‘Spurn Point Light’
It was a wild and wintery day when we visited Spurn Head early this year, the sea crashing in from the east and threatening to cover the causeway completely and yet the leeward side seemed oddly calm. David made several drawings and colour sketches as we battled our way the three miles or so out to the lighthouse and has now started to work them up into an oil painting. If all goes well the work should be exhibited in the gallery as part of the River Ure Project by the end of November.
The painting begins to take shape:
