Evening Cathedral

Description

A couple of miles outside, and to the west of Ripon the land begins to rise towards the pennines and here you can look back towards the city. If the evening light is wrong the cathedral is all but invisible but if it is right it catches the west front of the cathedral and it stands out like a precious stone. It’s always tempting to paint the cathedral from a closer vantage point but I like it set in its landscape.
