David says: This is a scene I came across on my drive from David Stead Gallery in Ripon to my studio at Norton Conyers. It was one of those bitter, hard frost days after snow and I couldn’t help feeling sorry for the sheep. Most of the painting was done by wiping paint onto the surface with a rag anmd any detail added later with coloured pencils.
